Mobile phones are fastest growing type of trash worldwide. Beyond the problem of landfills getting filled up with this trash is the problem of what they do once they are in the landfill. Mobile phones are full of toxic waste. This waste leeches into the ground and gets into the water. One mobile phone is capable of poisoning over 132,000 litres of water on its own. With the average person getting a new phone every year to two years this makes for a lot of potential damage to the earth. There are many ways you can recycle your old phones and prevent causing any damage to the environment. One way to recycle your unwanted phone and help out others is by donating your mobile to a senior home or women’s shelter. These organizations are always looking for ways to help their clients be safe. With a mobile phone, even one without a cell plan, can have immediate access to emergency services. There are also many mobile recycling centres that will take your old mobile and give you cash in return. Most often these shops are breaking these phones down and then reselling the parts or they are fixing them up and reselling them. Either way you are taking a step to make sure that you don’t contribute to the pollution of the planet. It is also possible to find a mobile phone shop that will take your old phone and give you a discount on a new one. If you are looking to upgrade your phone check with your mobile phone provider and see if they will offer you such a deal. With companies starting to get on board with the dangers of mobile phone pollution you should have no problems finding someone to give you a great deal on a new mobile. Some retail shops, like Boots, offer kiosks right in their store where you can recycle your unwanted mobile phone. When you do this Boots will give you an Advantage Card with 5000 points loaded onto it. Many other shops are offering special offers much like this one. All you have to do it drop off your old phone to benefit in the offers. If you have an unwanted mobile phone don’t just throw in the bin. Besides the batteries your mobile contains mercury, arsenic, and many other dangerous chemicals. Take a few extra steps and recycle your mobile, you will do something good for the environment.
